Module 2 - Lets go!

I was slowly having a meltdown about starting back this term (that's right, I like to start on a positive). We only seem to have started on this course recently and we're already preparing the topics and content for our dissertation in Module 3. It's daunting to know that in 12 weeks I'll have the outline of my future work planned out!

My panic was eased by the wonderful Jacob Hughes. He reassured me that feeling this way is normal and it was the way he felt throughout Module 2.

It's brilliant to have such a strong community of students around us as we dive deeper into the unknown! The handbooks are often confusing and vague so it's very reassuring to have people further along the path to speak with.

Unfortunately, for me, I will be absent on a lot of the zoom meetings this term due to work commitments. I've told myself that because of this I'm going to try and me much more vocal on the blogs and push myself to try and respond and support other students as much as possible!

Module 2 Ideas -

My head is reeling with ideas about what my proposal will be about but every time I think further into the topic, it feels like I'll open up and minefield. Does anyone else feel this way?

Choosing a topic with plenty of literature and research is one thing, but opening up a can of worms is another. I think this initial choice will be the hardest part of module 2.

I hope everyone is well and has had a lovely summer! I look forward to seeing you in class!

  1. Hi James,
I totally agree with you. Choosing the right topic is intellectually stimulating and challenging at the same time but I'm sure it's all worth it ;-)
Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you and the others in class.

  2. I agree James, a minefield, a can or worms, pandora's box, even a hornets nest. Perhaps all of the above, with information resembling a dog's breakfast I’m sure. I do think that we’ll feel more settled once we’ve come up with an inquiry that has meaning to us. All reading would then have a greater purpose leading to a plan of attack, a formulation and hopefully then something to really bite into. I wish all of us luck!
